Self-Control Awareness and Resilience
Course Description:
When do you think about your adrenaline level? This class is about addressing your adrenaline and emotions before, during and after a stressful situation. Discussion about how adrenaline impacts; patience, frustrations, tolerance, biases, calm, anger and how they influence our decisions. Participants will experience stressful and unpredictability situations working with horses on the ground. Participants practice personal resources to control their emotions and adrenaline levels.
This class brings the mind-body experience together for self-control during a critical situation. Horses are used as the indicator of adrenaline and emotional levels of the participants. When the adrenaline and emotions are under control the horses become calm. The horses are easier to work with to complete the assigned task.
Core Competencies
Officers will be better equipped to maintain self-control and awareness for better decision-making skills. Participants learn about their internal resources for self-control and awareness at work and home.
Course Objectives:
- Analyze emotional and physical adrenaline levels
- Identify and monitor their own adrenaline and emotional state of mind and adjust it appropriately for the situation
- Experience self-control, awareness, and resilience

Who Should Attend:
- Law Enforcement, Dispatch, Detectives, and Peer Support coordinators
Course Requirements:
- Full participation working with horses on the ground.
This is not a KLETC class.
First Wednesday of the month 8:30 am to 4:00 pm 30-minute lunch
First Thursday of the month 2:00 pm to 9:30 pm 30-minute break
Class run from March till November.
