Biography —
Garza started her Law Enforcement Career with the Neosho County Jail in southeast Kansas, as a Corrections Officer in 2003. Garza left the jail in 2006 as a Sargent and became a Deputy Sheriff with the Neosho County Sheriff's Office, serving on the Trego County SRT team and became a Forensic Child Interviewer.
Garza moved to Trego County and worked for the WaKeeney Police Department in 2006 as a Patrolman. Garza worked her way up to Sargent in 2013 and then Assistant Chief in 2015. As Assistant Chief, Garza helped set up the first Multi-Disciplinary Team in her County comprised of Law Enforcement, DCF, St. Francis, County Attorney’s Office, School Counselors, School Principals, SANE/SART Nurses, and Juvenile Probation Officers. Garza took over as Chief of Police in 2018.
