James Baney

James joined KLETC in 2018. He began his career as a corrections officer at the El Dorado Correctional Facility in 2003. In 2006, he became a police officer with the Derby Police Department.   

James was promoted to Police Senior Instructor, Rangemaster in January 2021.

James holds a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University and a Master of Science in Homeland Security: Law & Policy from the University of Kansas (2025).
