The Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) concluded its training series on Fair and Impartial Policing.

“The purpose of this training was to emphasize an agency’s commitment to unbiased, equitable treatment of all persons,” said KLETC Executive Director Darin Beck.

KLETC’s series of training began in March with the Fair and Impartial Policing for Law Enforcement Commanders class. Other Fair and Impartial Policing training included training for Law Enforcement Supervisors, Probation and Parole, and Correction Officers. The training series concluded on Thursday, May 12, with the Fair and Impartial Policing for Law Enforcement Civilians class.

The training curricula is founded on the fundamental principles that all people, even well-intentioned people, have biases. Biases are often unconscious or “implicit,” thus influencing choices and actions without conscious thinking or decision-making.

The training series was a joint effort by KLETC and Fair & Impartial Policing, LLC, and was made possible, in part, by a financial gift from AT&T.
