Sixteen new law enforcement officers graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) on December 8, 2023, in a ceremony held in KLETC's Integrity Auditorium. KLETC Police Instructor Senior Bryan Carey was the class coordinator for the graduating class and the commencement speaker for the ceremony was KLETC Executive Director Darin Beck.

In what was the first basic training graduation commencement address of his career, Executive Director Beck challenged the graduates to broaden their world view and to learn about people.   “Law enforcement is about the study of people more so than anything else that we do,” said Beck.  “Learn all you can about them.  Learn about their psychology, learn about their traditions and their cultures and their values.  It will make you a better communicator.  It will allow you to work with procedural justice, to have procedural justice inculcated into your being without even having to think about it.”

Under the authority of Executive Director Beck, graduates received certificates attesting to the satisfactory completion of a full-time basic course of instruction, and certification as Kansas law enforcement officers from the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training, the state’s law enforcement licensing authority.
