Course Description: 

Battling drug trafficking in your jurisdiction can be a daunting and frustrating task. Drug traffickers do not operate alone and do not recognize jurisdictional boundaries. It is critical that drug investigators are equipped with the training and knowledge to battle these organizations that seek to profit off of the misery they create in your community. 

This class will provide drug investigators with critical tools to utilize existing law to disrupt, dismantle and eliminate these organizations. Conspiracy investigations require investigators to utilize intelligence resources, collaborate with other agencies and partner with prosecutors to be successful. This training will lay out in detail all of these aspects and teach participants how to develop, build and complete a drug conspiracy investigation. 

Core Competencies: 

  • Participants will develop procedural knowledge of federal, state and local laws as they pertain to the actions of law enforcement officers and the enforcement of those laws.
  • Participants will employ best practices as they investigate any crime from its beginning to its eventual disposition; either as an individual or as part of an investigatory team.

  • Identify sentencing enhancements
  • Understand how to determine drug weights in a conspiracy
  • Understand how to begin and develop a drug conspiracy investigation

Participants are responsible for their own snacks, drinks, meals, lodging and travel. Please dress in layers, as the temperature in the room may be difficult to adjust. The session begins at 8:00 AM and is estimated to end at 5:00 PM. On-site registration will begin at 7:30 AM.
