KLETC Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

KLETC Building

In a continued effort to keep everyone updated on our efforts to manage the safety of all students, staff and guests on our campus, I need to inform you that KLETC has recently experienced an increased level of COVID exposures.

We have had about 27 students who were either symptomatic, tested positive (without symptoms), or have been quarantined because of close exposure (usually dorm roommates).  With our new smaller classes, the students are much more separated on campus and as a result, almost all affected students have been in one basic training class (the 271st).  We are sending the 7 students remaining in the 271st home at the end of the day today and will bring them back to complete training as soon as possible.

Several of our instructors and staff have been affected.  As a result, we have people teaching who have not taught for a while—contrary to what new officers think, I hear even administrators can take a patrol shift when the need arises.

Our staff continues to be extra diligent regarding prevention measures.  We are continuing with our daily rigorous cleaning and sanitizing protocols along with health screenings and temperature checks.  In addition, we continue to require all students, staff and guests wear face coverings and practice social distancing at all times while on the KLETC campus.  Our goal is to continue with our training missions, both with Basic Training and Continuing Education, with as little interruption as possible.  We recognize that our mission is important because your mission is critical.

I appreciate your support.

Thank you,
