Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) Executive Director Darin Beck was in Dodge City yesterday for the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new Dodge City University/Training Center. This new center is a coalition of multiple education organizations, including KLETC.

Joining Executive Director Beck were Dodge City Mayor Joyce Warshaw, Ford County Commission Chairman Chris Boys, Assistant City Manager Melissa McCoy, Associate Professor/Assistant Chair for the Department of Nursing at Fort Hays State University Tanya Smith, Chairman of the Department of Social Work Timothy Davis, and other members of the Dodge City community.

During the ceremony, Executive Director Beck spoke to those in attendance about the importance of the new education center.  “This center is innovative.  What Dodge City is doing here is very progressive, and I am hopeful that cities around the state will look to the needs of their communities and follow suit.”

The Dodge City University/Training Center will be used by several Kansas educational institutions, including KLETC, where it will act as a regional location for law enforcement professional development classes in Southwest Kansas. KLETC plans for classes to begin at the training center in the fall.
