Officers receive intermediate to advanced firearms and ballistics training in the use of the carbine and pistol, focusing on skills specific to urban gunfighting. The following firearms skills will be covered:
- Shooting from various positions (i.e. standing, kneeling, prone, etc.)
- Shooting techniques and positions from inside and outside a vehicle or structure
- Basic ballistic theory involved in shooting through glass
- One-hand manipulation with carbine and pistol
- Tactical Casualty Care under fire
- Two-man and team tactics for urban gunfighting (i.e. “leap-frogging”, target specific suppressive fire, etc.)
- Individual, two-man, and team movement
