Proactive Patrol Techniques

Detective Dan Weidner of the Wichita Police Department is a hard working Police Detective that takes the profession of public service very seriously.  He is a Prior-service Solider having served honorably in the United States Army and a 16 year veteran of the Wichita Police Department. Detective Weidner’s current assignment with the Special Investigation Bureau as a K9 handler offers him unique opportunities to serve the largest city in Kansas and the surrounding community. He provides expert K9 support to the WPD’s Undercover section, the department as a whole and the State. Detective Weidner is a Task Force Officer on the Drug Enforcement Administration’s, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area initiative out of Wichita. He also assists the WPD and surrounding community to recognize others as a member of the Honor Guard.  Dan is also the recipient of the 2021 Kansas Narcotics Officers Association K9 Handler of the Year Award.
