IPMBA

Olathe
Olathe Police Department

Olathe PD is again hosting IPMBA from 4/9 – 4/12.  We are teaching the course free of charge, however, IPMBA requires a $100 certification fee for membership benefits.  Attached is the readiness form, required equipment checklist, and tentative course schedule.  A few common things students forget are: pedal retention, helmet, bike that fits, lights that work , proper shoes, spare tire tubes.  It is important that students come to the course physically prepared to spend much of the day on their bikes.

Officers attending the course will be training most everyday in the public’s view.  An approved bicycle duty uniform with issued handgun and ballistic vest is encouraged.  Officers should also plan for inclement weather, training will occur rain or shine.

Olathe PD will provide on-site storage of bikes and gear.

Generally the class runs 0800 to 1800 the first two days, 1200 to 2200 the third day, and 0900 to 1600 the final day.

For those agencies with E-Bikes, IPMBA requires the student to complete the basic course on an acoustic bike before testing out on the E-Bike.  If you plan on bringing an E-Bike, you will NOT be able to ride it until the final day after completion of the class.
